AN ADVENTURE THROUGH NORTHERN ITALY TO THE WORLD'S MOST BEAUTIFUL CAPITAL
A training trip, an adventure and a memory for life!
Riding with destination Rome - the capital of Italy - means that you embark on an adventure where you know where you end up but have no idea about the way there!
However, our guide Marco has. He has made this trip before and keep it as one of his favorites. The trip has mostly, flat quick day trips combined with mountain stages over the Apennines and a tour of the beautiful island Elba. Getting to and from the multimillion-dollar city of Rome is a story of its own, but Marco guides you safely and in well pace into the capital to complete the tour in the best possible way - at St. Peter's Square!
Day 1, Arrival Bergamo and the termal resort of San Pellegrino Terme
Transfer from the airport to San Pellegrino Terme and the hotel if needed or if you come as an group in your own bus or cars. Depending on the time of your arrival, You will meet Marco for a short afternoon trip to feel the bikes and legs and breathe some mountain air.
Join the evening dinner eat and chit chat to prepare for the trip and coming days
Day 2, The trip to Rome begins!
We have breakfast at the hotel and pack our luggage in our transfer bus. The first day will be a good start with mostly flat riding south, just riding west of Bergamo and further on to today's final destination, Piacenza.
Today's trip is about 110 km
Day 3, On the way to the coast.
From the start in Piacenza we have almost 7 hours in the saddle in front of us. Today's tour takes us out to sea and the coast just south of Rapallo. We have almost 1500 meters of altitude as a challenge and we pass meadows and fertile fields and then meander across the Apennines to aim for the sea off the coast of Genoa and the night's sleep in Sestri Levante.
Today's trip is about 150 km
Day 4, Beautiful coastline south
Today you are offered both mountains, views of the sea and a longer section along the coast. We pass on the inside of the Cinque Terrre, here we have to climb closer to 2000 meters. Cinque Terre is one of Italy's largest and most beautiful tourist destinations and you understand why when you see the dominant sea and the fantastic villages that really climb the mountain walls. Enjoy the sea, tomorrow we head towards the classic city of Siena.
Today's trip is about 125 km
Day 5, We welcome Tuscany and are welcomed by Siena.
Tuscany is well known for riding and we pass Pisa and follow the fantastic rolling roads lined with pine trees and the hills which all seem to have a charming village put on top. We steer towards Siena, one of the most classic Tuscan resorts with heritage from the Middle Ages and a very charming inner city. Even though Tuscany is free from the steepest mountains, we still have time to gather almost 1600 meters of altitude during the day.
Today's trip is about 155 km
Day 6, The sea and the island Isola d'Elba are the destination for tired legs.
Time to go out to the sea again, today's trip is a little shorter and interrupted by a ferry crossing, because today we are going out on the beautiful island of Elba. Here awaits a free day for relax, sun and swimming and much-needed rest for tired legs
From Siena where the day starts it is a little flatter, then you invites to a good hill training, about 1950 meters, to reach the top and with sea view roll down to the sea and the port where the ferry is waiting.
From the ferry camp we have a transport distance of less than a mile before we arrive at the hotel where we will stay three nights. Free dinner in the evening
Today's trip is about 120 km
Day 7, Free day on the island isola d'Elba
Today you enjoy a whole free day, on the beach, in the hotel, maybe an excursion by bus or much needed massage.
We meet in the evening for a short reconciliation before tomorrow's tour around the island.
Day 8, Day trip, mountain stage around the island, Isola d 'Elba
The small island invites to really good riding, mostly right along the sea but the ever-present mountains give the day trip a real challenge, closer to 2100 meters! And for you who still need some rest - stay at the beach - no problem!
Today's trip is about 120 km
Day 9, back to the mainland and continue the trip to Rome
The ferry is waiting to take us to the mainland and continue our trip south to Rome. Today we stay along the coast and have a really flat stretch in front of us. We expect about 675 altitude meters all in all. We spend the night in Ortabello and recharge and prepare before the final stage towards the capital tomorrow - to Rome!
Today's trip is about 120 km
Day 10. All roads lead to Rome!
The day has come, the day when we enter the large and well-known capital Rome by bike. We have about 1000 meters of altitude before we get into the city. Of course it will be a bit messy with traffic as closer we get to Rome, but Marco guides you in peace and quiet all the way in to St peters square!
In Rome, we orginase for you and your group, a few days of holiday before you go home! let us know your preferences.
Today's trip is about 140 km
